Golf in Bali

A small island with a big golf personality: cliffside ocean holes, a highland caldera course and world class resorts. The four courses that matter, when to play and what it costs.

Why play golf in Bali

Bali is not a high volume golf destination, and that is the point. The island offers a compact set of genuinely good courses set against cliffs, ocean and a volcanic crater, wrapped in some of the best resorts, dining and culture in Asia. It suits the traveler who wants three or four memorable rounds across a week, not a course a day, with a beach club, a spa and a temple between tee times.

The golf splits neatly. The Bukit Peninsula in the south holds the cliffside courses and sits close to the airport, the beach resorts of Nusa Dua and the surf of Uluwatu. Up in the central highlands around Bedugul, Handara plays in cool mountain air inside an ancient caldera, a complete change of scene. The four to build a trip around

Bali National Golf Club, Nusa Dua

The polished championship course of the resort belt, minutes from the beaches and hotels of Nusa Dua and about twenty minutes from the airport. Three distinct stretches of golf, immaculate conditioning and the easiest logistics on the island, which makes it the natural anchor round.

New Kuta Golf, Pecatu

Ronald Fream's cliffside layout above Uluwatu, opened in 2007 and famous for the 15th, the Cliff Hanger, played along a limestone headland with sweeping ocean views toward the sacred Uluwatu temple. The most dramatic golf on Bali.

Handara Golf and Resort, Bedugul

A 1974 Peter Thomson, Michael Wolveridge and Ronald Fream design set inside an extinct volcanic caldera in the central highlands, ringed by jungle and mountain. The cool air and the photogenic gateway make it a complete contrast to the coast and the best value round on the island.

Bukit Pandawa Golf, Bukit

An eighteen hole, all par 3 cliff course opened in 2016 on the limestone bluffs of the Bukit Peninsula, with the Indian Ocean as a constant backdrop. A short but spectacular round that is perfect for a mixed group or a relaxed afternoon.

Costs, getting there and where to stay

Beyond the green fees in the table, budget around 15 to 25 USD for a caddie, which is customary and worthwhile, 20 to 30 USD for a cart, and 25 to 40 USD for rental clubs if you travel without your own. See our Bali green fees guide for the full breakdown.

Nearly everyone flies into Ngurah Rai International Airport at Denpasar, well connected across Asia and Australia. The Bukit courses and the Nusa Dua resorts are within thirty to forty five minutes of the terminal, while Handara is a scenic two hour drive north into the highlands, best done as a day trip or an overnight.

For a golf focused stay, base in Nusa Dua or along the Bukit for easy access to three of the four courses and the best beach resorts, and add a highland night near Handara if you want the full contrast. We can pair the right hotels with prebooked tee times across the island.

Golf in Bali questions

How many golf courses are there in Bali?

Bali has four main 18 hole layouts worth traveling for: Bali National at Nusa Dua, New Kuta on the Bukit cliffs, Handara up in the Bedugul highlands and the all par 3 Bukit Pandawa. Three sit on or near the Bukit Peninsula in the south, while Handara is a cool climate course in the central mountains.

How much does golf cost in Bali?

Indicative 2026 weekday green fees run from about 60 USD at Handara to roughly 150 USD at Bali National, before extras. Budget another 15 to 25 USD for a caddie, 20 to 30 USD for a cart and 25 to 40 USD for rental clubs. Rates move with the season and rate plan, so always confirm directly before booking.

When is the best time to golf in Bali?

The dry season from May to September offers the most reliable conditions and the firmest turf. The wet season from October to March is still very playable, with showers usually arriving in the afternoon, so tee off early and you will often get a full round in. It is hot and humid year round, so morning golf is the rule.

Is Bali good for a golf trip?

Bali pairs a small but high quality set of courses with world class resorts, beaches, food and culture, which makes it an outstanding couples or mixed group trip rather than a high volume buddies golf marathon. Three or four rounds across a week, wrapped around the island's other pleasures, is the sweet spot.
