Golf in Danang
A short stretch of central Vietnam coast holds one of Asia's densest collections of championship golf: Luke Donald's mountain epic at Ba Na Hills, Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus on the dunes, a Colin Montgomerie links and Nick Faldo down the coast at Lang Co. Add warm beaches, the old town of Hoi An and value that still surprises, and Danang is the easiest golf trip in Asia to fall for.

Why golf in Danang
Danang is Vietnam's fourth largest city and the hub of the country's best golf. In barely an hour of driving you can play five courses by some of the biggest names in design, and the standard is genuinely world class, not resort filler. The coastline south of the city runs flat and sandy, ideal for the links and parkland courses that hug it, while inland the land rises sharply toward the Truong Son mountains, where Ba Na Hills climbs through cool, forested hills.
The wider draw is the trip around the golf. Danang has a long beach strip of five star resorts, an international airport with direct flights across Asia, and the UNESCO listed old town of Hoi An twenty minutes south, all of which make this an easy sell to a mixed group or a couple. Green fees and lodging still represent strong value against Europe or Australia, and the year round warmth means there is no closed season, only a wetter window to plan around.
The courses that matter
Ba Na Hills Golf Club · Luke Donald, 2016
The first Luke Donald design anywhere in the world, a par 72 of about 7,858 yards climbing through forested mountains 30 minutes inland. Voted the World's Best New Course on opening in 2016 and a repeat winner of Vietnam's best. The most dramatic round in the region.
BRG Danang Golf Resort, Norman Course · Greg Norman
The original course on the coastal strip, a true links from Greg Norman over rolling sand dunes with sea breezes and firm turf. Long a fixture on best in Vietnam lists and part of a 36 hole resort right on the beach.
BRG Danang Golf Resort, Nicklaus Course · Jack Nicklaus
The newer of the two courses at the resort, formerly the Legend Course, a Jack Nicklaus design that complements the Norman links with more strategic, parkland character. Together they make Danang a genuine 36 hole base.
Montgomerie Links Vietnam · Colin Montgomerie
Colin Montgomerie's inland links between Danang and Hoi An, the first of the modern Danang courses, with sandy waste areas, large undulating greens and a strong clubhouse and academy. A reliable, well conditioned championship test.
Laguna Lang Co Golf Club · Nick Faldo
A Nick Faldo design about 45 minutes north toward Lang Co, a par 71 set between mountains, river and sea inside the Laguna resort. Worth the short drive for the scenery and the change of pace from the coastal links.
Designers and opening detail verified June 2026 from the clubs and leading course databases. Ba Na Hills opened in 2016 to a Luke Donald design; BRG Danang Golf Resort pairs a Greg Norman links with a Jack Nicklaus course (formerly the Legend); Montgomerie Links was designed by Colin Montgomerie; Laguna Lang Co is a par 71 by Nick Faldo. Conditioning and access change, so confirm tee times with each club before planning.
When to go: the Danang golf season
| Window | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Feb to Apr | The prime window: warm, dry and pleasant before the summer heat, with the most reliable golfing weather of the year |
| May to Aug | Hot and humid, often above 33C; play early, drink plenty and expect firm, fast coastal courses and good resort value |
| Sep to Nov | The wet season and typhoon risk peaks in October and November; rain can be heavy, so build in flexible days |
| Dec to Jan | Cooler and a little unsettled, comfortable for walking with the odd grey, drizzly spell; quieter and good value |
February to April is the sweet spot. Green fees and resort rates change by season and year; always confirm directly before booking.
Getting there, costs and where to stay
Danang International Airport (DAD) sits right in the city, with direct flights from Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Hong Kong and other Asian hubs, plus easy domestic connections from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The golf is spread along the coast and up into the hills, but nothing is far: the coastal courses are within 30 minutes of the beach resorts, Ba Na Hills is about 45 minutes inland, and Laguna Lang Co around 45 minutes north. A private driver is the simple, affordable way to move a group between tees.
Green fees and lodging remain good value by international standards, especially outside the spring peak. Most golfers base on the My Khe and Non Nuoc beach strip south of the city, where the five star resorts sit beside the BRG and Montgomerie courses and Hoi An is a short hop away. We can pair the right resort with the courses and arrange the tee times and transfers as one package.
